What is PlanetNodes?
PlanetNodes is a distributed-compute platform with two products. Cluster coordinates computers you trust as a private pool. Marketplace lets customers rent complete machines from independent providers for eligible remote jobs.
What is the difference between Cluster and Marketplace?
Cluster is invite-only and uses computers owned by you, your team, school, or lab. Marketplace uses computers operated by independent providers and adds pricing, reputation, billing, and payouts. Both distribute jobs; neither combines separate machines into one larger-memory computer.
Does PlanetNodes add remote RAM or GPU power to my computer?
No. Your computer keeps its existing hardware. PlanetNodes sends a supported workload to a separate provider computer with the memory, CPU, or GPU the job needs, then returns the result, logs, and artifacts.
Can PlanetNodes turn my 16 GB laptop into a 32 GB laptop?
No. Your laptop still has 16 GB of physical RAM. If a supported job needs 32 GB, you can rent a provider computer with at least 32 GB and run that job remotely instead of upgrading your laptop for that task.
How does verification work?
When verification is requested, eligible deterministic work can run on independent provider nodes. PlanetNodes normalizes and compares the results before accepting the execution.
Is PlanetNodes a cloud provider?
PlanetNodes provides a marketplace and coordination layer. The underlying computers are operated by independent providers, so workload placement and performance differ from a single-owner cloud.
